Can I use rStashed without installing it?
Yes. Open the web media library to browse accessible public profiles and subreddits, filter and select media, save individual files, or prepare a ZIP. If Reddit denies JSON access, the library automatically loads Reddit’s public feed where available. Feed results may omit gallery items or video files. If neither format is accessible, import JSON from a listing accessible in your own Reddit tab. Imports are processed locally.
ZIPs preserve the folder structure; Chromium browsers can also save to a folder you choose. Website downloads require the tab to stay open and do not automatically resume. Some hosts block website downloads: open the original media or use the extension in that case. The website cannot inspect Reddit tabs or use your Reddit login.
Which browsers work?
rStashed has builds for Chrome / Chromium and Firefox 140 or later. The Firefox build also supports compatible Firefox-based browsers, including Zen and Twilight. Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons installation are available now, with automatic updates. You can also download directly from this website and follow the loading guide: Chrome uses an extracted folder, while Firefox ZIPs are temporary until restart.
Safari is experimental and does not currently support the download queue. It is not offered as a supported downloader.
How do I start?
Visit a Reddit profile or subreddit and open the extension from your toolbar. The current name fills automatically. You can also enter u/username, r/subreddit, or a Reddit URL. The default is 250 posts and Media only; choose a post count from 0 to 1,000.
Reddit denied access to the listing.
Open that profile or subreddit in a Reddit tab and let its posts load. Return to rStashed and click Collect visible posts. Scroll the Reddit tab to load more posts, then collect again. Only matching posts loaded in that tab are included, up to your chosen count.
Reddit controls listing availability and may return fewer posts. If it rate-limits requests, wait for the cooldown shown by the extension.
Where are my downloads?
Inside your browser’s configured Downloads folder, under redditMedia/name/. The name is the profile or subreddit you browsed. Images, videos, and GIFs go into their own folders based on the file extension. MP4 animations go into videos/.
Change the root folder, filenames, or download concurrency in Preferences. Your browser may ask for a save location or adjust a filename.
Why is my video silent?
Some Reddit videos store audio in a separate stream. This version downloads the supported video file and does not merge separate audio tracks, so those files may be silent.
Can I download an entire history?
You can request up to 1,000 accessible posts. This is a request limit, not a guarantee of complete history. Private, removed, deleted, unavailable, and unsupported content cannot be recovered through rStashed. Setting the count to zero loads no posts.
How do ZIP exports work?
Select media and choose Export ZIP. Archives support up to 50 unique items and 96 MiB in total, with organized folders and a manifest of source links. Keep the library tab open until the export finishes.
How do I retry or clear downloads?
Open Downloads to retry failed items or cancel active work. In Preferences, clearing local data removes snapshots, preferences, and download records and cancels active queue jobs. Files already downloaded remain on your computer.
